The fire took Mom and Dad away from me. Everyone tells me there was nothing I could do. No one’s been able to help me cope. Except Mr. Griffin.
He’s the long-term sub’ in my Language arts class and has been encouraging me to write fantasy stories. So I’ve created Illumina, a world full of magic and monsters. I’ve also created an alter-ego for myself. He’s a warrior, a hero, strong and brave. Everything I’m not.
It’s been great. But now my fantasy world has started invading the real one. Am I crazy? Is this really happening? All I know for sure is I need to get my imagination under control.
Something tells me that’s going to be a lot harder than it sounds.
